How to use this generator
- Choose research evidence or safety cautions, or leave both available.
- Use Advanced options to focus on one named botanical or preparation.
- Generate a card and read both the evidence and safety context before following the NCCIH reference.
Examples
- Acai — Reliable evidence does not establish acai as a weight-loss treatment.
- Aloe vera — Some research concerns topical aloe gel; it does not establish the same effects for oral aloe products.
Evidence, tradition and preparation
The 56 NCCIH subjects produce 112 distinct evidence/safety cards. They include herbs, foods and specific botanical preparations rather than 56 interchangeable medicines. Historical uses are identified as history, not proof of benefit. Research on a standardised extract, capsule or topical product does not establish the same result for raw leaves, tea or another preparation.
Using a health reference responsibly
The short cards cannot cover every condition, interaction, product quality issue or person. They provide no doses and should not guide starting, stopping or replacing medicines. Discuss herbal products with a qualified health professional, especially when taking medicines, during pregnancy or breastfeeding. These are editorial summaries, not a clinician review of your situation.
No-repeat rounds with real limits
Each matching record is used before that selection starts another round. Subject rotation also spreads related plants or animals where the pool allows. Filters retain seen-record history during the visit, but narrow selections finish sooner. Reloading or opening another page starts a fresh session.
Common questions
Does natural mean safe?
No. Botanicals can cause adverse effects, contamination problems or serious medicine interactions. Food use is different from concentrated products.
Why can the same botanical return later?
There are two different cards per subject: evidence and caution. Subjects rotate where possible before the second card appears. Exact matching cards cycle before repeating.
